Where

God
Your word is
Mysteriously and Frustratingly
Lacking in
Detail

“In the course of my life He broke my strength”
“He tears me down on every side till I am gone; He
uproots my hope like a tree”
“You have put me in the lowest pit, in the darkest
   depths”

And then…

“The heavens are the work of your hands”
“I know that you can do all things”
Or no further mention of the person or the pain

Your word includes A and then Z
The beginning and then the end
Where is the middle?
Where is B through Y?

Where is the struggle to survive?
Where is the battle for peace?
Where is the trying to move forward through the pain?
Where is the thing that happens
To make people think You are good again?
To make people decide You are not useless or cruel?

Leaving that out is like
Giving someone a map
With the middle cut out
Or a book
With the important chapters
Missing

It’s cheating

If I figure out
What it is
That gets people
From broken
To whole
I will include it

I won’t hide
The dark ugly
Middle part
Where the work is done

I won’t hide
The detail between
You failed me
And “yet will I praise you”

I will include what is missing
So the broken
That come after me
Won’t feel
So alone
