And we’d have found the resources to cope

And wise counsel would have eventually set things right

You could have allowed just trauma

And enough time to work it through

You could have allowed just delusion

That would have been more than enough

You could have allowed just a marriage broken

And we would have spent a lifetime piecing it back together

But in your infinite mercy

You gave us all of it

And then stood back and watched
