Fragile Heart

My fragile heart
Is strong

Able to bear
Whatever weight
Of pain
Is required

Like those candles

At birthdays
That just won’t
Blow out

My heart

Though fragile
May flicker
May dim
May even
Go small
For a time

But will not
Anymore
Be darkened
